LO4 - Budget

One of the things we will need in order to produce our material is a freelance graphic designer which are usually priced at £20 per hour where we will be needing the freelance graphic designer for around 4 weeks. We will need about 4 hours work per day to complete the project within 4 weeks which would cost £1600.00.

The next thing we will need is software in order to create the material on. We will need both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

There is a package where you can get both of these applications for a set price per month which is cheaper than buying the software for 12 months or forever when we just need it for 4 weeks. The software is from Adobe Creative Cloud where we have put it under a business focus which will only cost £53.20 a month where we will only need it for a month.

Adobe Photoshop + Adobe Illustrator - The link below is where we can purchase both softwares.

The next thing which we will need to do is find out how much it will cost to print for each of the items which I have chosen to display as an advertisement. I chose to put the brand on a hat, T-shirt and then advertise through a banner and flyer.

I will keep in mind that I will be advertising in Yorkshire where the population is millions and the target audience for young adults and older for my festival will attract thousands. I will focus in Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Leeds, York, Scarborough, Lincoln, Harrogate, Chesterfield, Bradford and Huddersfield.  I will focus on putting them and handing them out in the most popular parts of these areas.

I have decided to print out 5000 flyers which are on a Gloss A6 size for £48 which can be distributed effectively in popular areas in Yorkshire with the flyer being eye catching and full of information where people can see dates, times, locations, artists attending and more.

I have decided to print out 5 large banners which will be displayed in 5 of the most popular places in Yorkshire to advertise to a larger audience. The cost of 5 banners is £768 with the width being 3000mm X Height 1000mm with the banners being displayed either on the side of a building or on a billboard.

The billboards range from £500 - £1500 or more a month depending on where it is located and in what part of Yorkshire with the amount of people which go past it calculated. I have contacted a company who got back to me for the information.

I have chosen to advertise in two areas in particular which are Sheffield which is where the venue is actually being held to appeal to local people so that they know about the event and in Manchester in the town where the billboards will be placed in popular places with a big audience which may look at them where I will be looking at other places as well to gather a bigger and wider audience for all over Yorkshire.

Sheffield:

£268 Per week

Manchester:

£621 Per Week

Huddersfield - Colne rd:

£268 per Week

The first billboard which is located in Sheffield will cost me £268 per week, £621 in Manchester per week and £268 in Huddersfield per week which comes to a total of : £1,157. I will be advertising on the billboards for 4 weeks which will come to a total of £4,628.

I have decided to have 5000 T-Shirts, I have chosen to do half of the T-shirts in both light blue and white where I have decided to do two designs on two different T-shirts which give the people who want to buy them a choice of two T-shirts. I have decided to get 1500 Small, 1500 Medium, 1250 Large and 750 XLarge I have decided to get more Small and medium as I think they will be more popular than the other sizes, the reason for me getting 5000 is because if the Motorpoint Arena is full it can hold 26,000 people and at least a quarter of people who come will want a T-shirt to buy and wear.

LO4 - Lesson Outcome

In todays lesson I have learned what Adobe Illustrator is about and the different tools which are available and how it smooth's out your work when you draw something. You can alter the lines which you have drawn and you can do different shapes and symbols.

LO4 - Using Illustrator

We set a bleed around the page when we started which ensures you don't loose any of your work up to the edge of the page when it's printed.

The images below I have used the Warp Tool , Shape Tool and Symbols  in Illustrator

To create the shapes below I went to windows > Brush Libraries > Arrows > Arrows_Special

LO3 : Presentation Feedback + Nick Bax

Today we presented our ideas about our festivals to Nick Bax who is the founder of http://www.humanstudio.com ho is a lecturer in design & visual communication and a fellow of the Royal Society for arts.

The point which we were all addressed to was that fact that a lot of us used low ages like 18-23 where a lot older people are going to a variety of different festivals with people who are 40 + years old going down and the festivals make them feel like the age of everyone else.

The point what was addressed to me was that I had a lot really big names where I have been to see one or two of the singers and know that 1 artist alone can fill an entire arena. I have now chosen my venue outside where a lot more people can attend than in the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena for example.

It was also pointed out that on my flyer and different pieces of information a lot of the big artists labels and mangers will want there logo on the flyer and even a picture of the singer.

What I thought about the comments:

I thought that the comments were constructive and things were pointed out which I didn't think of which I will add into my presentation and work.
